My mind and body are exhausted.
Two months ago I rebooted my journey toward achieving a more nutrition and exercise rich lifestyle. It started with writing my goals for the month down, which consisted of one bullet in particular reading ’30 pushups every day.’
After a month of 30 pushups every day, I eventually built up the courage to actually step in a gym. Prior to starting this journey I could honestly say I was in the worst shape of my life. I’ve been an athlete my entire life, four sports in high school and indoor/outdoor track in college. I’d let myself go. My mind was focussed on achieving, on getting to that next step, I wasn’t worried about my mental and physical health.
I’ve been training at the local gym for about a month and a half now, and two nights ago I finally had my first ‘real’ workout. Squat 4×6 at 185lbs, dumbbell bench 4×12 with 65’s. The weight I was attempting and struggling with a month ago is now part of my warmup routine. It took two weeks just to muster the strength and courage for a 2×12 135lbs squat workout.
I’m not where I once was. Working out with Mr. Brandon La Sage in Rochester had me in the best physical shape of my life. That experience taught me so much about lifting form and nutrition. My intention now is to exceed where I once was.
I’m through messing around. When I want something I’m going for it. I’m through not being honest with myself about my intentions. There are parts of my life that need tending to, parts I’ve been neglecting. I’ve been allowing money to control a scattered routine. I’m shifting my mindset from ‘what do I need to do next’ to ‘what is best for me?’
Commitments are huge, and they don’t come until you leap a little. Go out there. Make mistakes. SCREW UP! There is something about failing that feels AWESOME! Its hard to put in words the excitement that comes from failure.
I’m recovering now. I’m healing myself. I’m intentionally and strategically stressing areas of my life and body that I know to be weak. A strong lesson I learned at the onset of this year from T. Harv Ecker is that if you live your life with your eye on God, everything else will fit into place like a puzzle. Its one thing for me to read this early this year, but it wasn’t until just recently I started gaining a stronger perspective on the intention of those words.
The Swedish are getting close. They’re currently passing a bill to guarantee every citizen $2,800 income every month–regardless of their occupation.
What would you do if you had enough money guaranteed every month to thrive in an abundant life? Would your career change? Would you rest more? Where you sit right now, right now where you are, are you being completely honest with your intentions for Your life?
Jump outside your box. Get creative. Do something dumb. FAIL! Then when you’re done with that, FAIL SOME MORE! Fail harder, find new ways to get closer to what you want, and do them big. Don’t waste time making small mistakes, its too easy to gain misdirection.
Before when I wasn’t aiding myself with proper nutrition, sleep and exercise–I was just simply ‘existing.’ I wasn’t loving myself. I was so caught up in serving Him that I was losing my direction. I got so caught up serving Him that I forgot about letting him serve Me.
“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45 ESV
I was hiding behind my intention. I wasn’t loving myself, and because of that I wasn’t opening myself up to love others.
Now I’m not saying drop everything you’re doing and chase an unrealistic expectation, but what I am suggesting is you take the first step. Every decision you place with the Universe manifests. Often its just that one phone call to a friend of mentor that can change your entire life forever.
Fail hard, learn and grow every day.
